Wasted reps

You perform the way you practice. If you never practice at game-speed then, how do you expect to be good in a game.

Slow deliberate shots are for grooving your form, training your nerves to move in a certain pattern. Do these at the beginning of your training session, then move on to actual game-like reps.

For example, you might need some slow reps at the beginning of your session to work on getting your wrist cocked or in extension before you lift the ball to shoot. There are several deliberate drills you can do for this to turn this into a habit.

after that, it’s time to get to work!!

“Coach, I practice shooting 3 hours a day, but I’m still not scoring more in games.”

Well, walking around the court and lazily shooting isn’t game-like so I would say it doesn’t even count (some call them junk reps). It’s a waste of time.

Real shooting workouts can’t go much over an hour if you’re doing everything at game-speed. Don’t waste your time with junk reps.
